I read Black Boy by Richard Wright, I already told you about the first few chtreaps so now I'm gonna tell you about the middle of the book. Richard is living with his Granny now but she has gave up all hope on him. She is still letting him attend school but she will not buy him books because she think hes is unworthy, (Oh and if you didn't know his Granny is a major believer in spirits). Now Richard is a little bit older he and the cooler kids think you have to fight other boys to become known or as you could say popular in your school. He advance from fifth grade to sixth grade, and he is unable to find jobs that he's able to take Saturdays off for, but then he finds a job working at a newspaper company and another black man stops by him and say's you know what these papers are talking about right, and Richard looks at him confused. The man says this paper is filled with propaganda from the Ku Klux Klan, the vicious white supremacist group. Richard could not believe that he was selling papers about whites going against the blacks, so Richard quits his job because he wants nothing to do with them. Richard is now working for a white family he is pretty much being the maid but is highly watched. Ella's health is up in down she gets better from time to times but she keeps having the strokes which is keeping her out of work, so Richard is still trying to supply money for his family.Now Richard is finally in eighth grade, he as become a teenager and has been getting very overwhelm lately. He is old enough to realize everything that is going on with the whites and blacks being racist. Richard comes to find out that he loves to write, it is what brings him happiness and relief. His family pretty much thinks he is stupid and has no reason to write, the only person that encourages him on is the newspaper editor. He is finally graduating school and Richard wrote a speech for the longest time the principal wouldn't let him read it because white people will be present at the graduation, the principal has written a speech of his own, which he instructs Richard to deliver. His principal threaten his to keep Richard from graduating if he does not cooperate and do as the principal says. Graduation finally arrives and Richards friends and family urge him to do the right thing, which is to read his own paper he wrote so Richard does so and immediately flees the auditorium, paying no attention to the applause, to the handshakes, to the invitations to parties that he receives. He is disgusted with the community, the event, and with the fact that he lived his life for seventeen years in a baffled state.
